ROLE AT BRIGHTON NOISE
FAVOURITE THINGS ABOUT LIVING IN BRIGHTON
Touring bands generally come through Brighton offering the wealth of local talent a decent support slot, great restaurants, a pub on every corner. And…..the sea? As far as living in England is concerned it’s here or London, no where else comes close.
FAVOURITE LOCAL VENUE
Green Door Store, although I’m kinda biased…
BEST PRE-GIG DRINKING HOLE
Happy to sink a few cans on the cheap before heading to a show but you’ll generally find me in the Fishbowl after midnight. Or Green Door Store.
FIRST EVER GIG
Crikey. It may have been Cypress Hill when I was about 12 but don’t hold me to that. Grew out of them pretty quick.
BEST RECENT GIG
Refused at The Forum. Possibly the most anticipated gig of my life, waiting more than ten years to see that band and my god did they not disappoint. Amazing show.
3 TOP BANDS/MUSICIANS
Really? God this is hard. The Blood Brothers (Burn, Piano Island, Burn will never get old), Godspeed! You Black Emperor (spine-crushing intensity) and Radiohead (willfully ignoring Pablo Honey). Although I reserve the right to change that list if asked again.
RECOMMENDED BRIGHTON BANDS
Love Among the Mannequins, Soccer 96, Saint Coltrane, Cold Pumas, Sealings, Broker, Us Baby Bear Bones, Illness, Do You Feel What I Feel Deer. I’ve probably missed some. Cousin. RIP Charlottefield, one of the best UK hardcore bands this side of the millennium.
