Prince Vaseline are a four-piece psychedelic pop band from Brighton, they formed in October 2013, sharing a mutual love for bands such as The Velvet Underground, Stereolab, the Stooges, and Pavement, as well as a passion for world psych and early experimental electronica.

London-based Sun Machine combine a strong 60’s pop-psych sensibility, inspired by the likes of Phil Spector and the tropical insanities of Os Mutantes, with wide sonic-jams and lush textures, articulating their vision with virtuoso and conviction. As their deranged and off-kilter debut makes quite apparent, this outfit are imbued with a life affirming and compassionate message; SunMachine have arrived with every intention of shaking up the lethargy that swamps much of the current UK scene.

Hanz Rollo are Brighton based 4 piece incorporating jangly guitars, dynamic vocal movements and on occasion, rumbling vibrations.

Love Thy Neighbour Presents: Prince Vaseline, Sun Machine & Hanz Rollo @ The Prince Albert 19/09/2015

08/04/2015 By James McLarnon

pv6Promoter Love Thy Neighbour have been doing some excellent showcases of the finest talent Brighton has to offer this year; having either past or forthcoming shows from Brighton Noise favourites Dog In The Snow, Nature Channel, Lower Slaughter, GAPS, Fiction Aisle and Merlin Tonto. The latest for this treatment are going to be the deceptively fast rising Prince Vaseline.

The Brighton 4-piece’s accomplished debut album ‘A Naturally Coloured Pleasure’, is a clever psych-pop affair that manages to tie different eras and places together with a seamless ease, somehow connecting John Fogarty, Lou Reed, Canterbury Folk and krautrock without feeling like a concerted effort to be kooky. Their best moments are when Max Erle’s baritone croon is alongside, Eleanor Whittle’s understated, yet completely essential electronics.

In support, there’s a very welcome return for London based Sun Machine, a promising 4-piece whose psychedelic sounds are equally adept when reminiscent of the more accessible bands of the genre such as Tame Impala as they are when fusing tropicalia influences.

Opening up are newish local lads Hanz Rollo who have more to them than one ordinarily expects from a garage rock band. Their bright, incisive and smart psych pop being infused with ghosts of Beefheart, Zappa and Cardiacs.
