Spit Shake Sisters release 'Jesus was a Homewrecker'

18/04/2014 By James McLarnon

Spit Shake Sisters 2Spit Shake Sisters have long been favourites round these parts, being one of the first Brighton bands to take their inspiration from the West Coast garage/psych rock of Ty Segall and Thee Oh Sees, so much so that they made our best of 2013 round-up as one of the best discoveries of the year.

The prime slab of garage rock that is ‘Jesus is a Homewrecker’, released today through Teen Creeps, starts with two minutes of verse-chorus, both parts appearing to vie against each other to see which will be more memorable. Just as it starts to get familiar a crushing mid-song breakdown/freakout/sing-along completes the most thrilling four minutes they’ve committed to tape. ‘Jesus was a Homewrecker’ will go down a treat at one of their sweaty, loud and brilliant live shows.

They play the Cowley Club on 5 April and have just been announced for the Teen Creeps Stage at Camden Crawl later that month. On this form you’d be crazy to miss them.
