EsbenThe first in a new feature, a weekly round-up of news involving local artists. Please contact us if you have something you have something interesting.

Esben and The Witch fresh from recording with legendary Steve Albini in Chicago have released ‘Blood Teachings’ the penultimate track from their forthcoming ‘A New Nature’ album (released  1 September.)

The track’s a two-parter with Rachel Davies’s almost Nina Simone-esque croon dominating the first half before, the 3-piece get down to some hypnotic and furious rocking in the second half of the track. We have high expectations for the album if recent live performances are anything to go by.

Soon to be massive Royal Blood release their self-titled debut album on 25 August . They were extremely impressive at Glastonbury last weekend and you can watch their full set for a limited time on BBC iPlayer.

Another Brighton band who fared well at Glastonbury are The Wytches. They have been announced as support on The Growlers and Fat White Family’s forthcoming co-headline tour, including the Brighton leg.

An outrageously gifted new talent is emerging in the form of 19 year old Fable, who has released her outstanding debut track ‘I Speak Words.’ It ‘s definitely electro but done with a punk attitude. She is also writing for Orbital’s new album and Russell Lissack’s new solo project. Her debut gig will be at The Hope on 31 July (details TBA.)

Post-hardcore outfit Broker released the excellent Argument/Counter argument record back on 26 April . They play the Cowley Club this Friday (4 July) as a partial celebration of this fact.

Post –rock electronica types Spacenoid are soon releasing a single called ‘Vanished’ and to celebrate are having a free entry bash at The Hope this Saturday supported by ManRaySky.

The Beautiful Word are on tour from 30 July to August 6th, including a date at Latest Music Bar on 31st July. They’d like you to spread the word!

The White Room (ex-The Basis) released a video to ‘Delay’ last weekend. Check it out!

That’s it until next week!
